Easton Press Collector’s Edition of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, published in 1977 as part of the 100 Greatest Books Ever Written series. This edition reproduces the text and illustrations of the 1940 Limited Editions Club edition, with illustrations by Helen Sewell, an introduction by Frank Swinnerton, and a frontispiece portrait by Lawrence Beall Smith.
Bound in rich blue genuine leather with elaborate gilt decoration to the boards and spine, raised spine bands, all-edge gilt, sewn binding, archival-quality paper, decorative endpapers, and a bound-in ribbon marker.
This copy is in Fine to Very Fine condition with a virgin binding, showing no evidence that the book has been fully opened or read. The leather remains clean and richly colored, the gilt decoration is bright and crisp, and the gilded page edges retain excellent luster. The binding is tight and the book presents exceptionally well, making this a particularly strong example of the 1977 Easton Press issue.
