Vintage Dell mass-market paperback edition of James Baldwin’s Going to Meet the Man, his first and only collection of short fiction. Originally published in hardcover in 1965, the collection includes eight stories, among them “Sonny’s Blues,” “Previous Condition,” “The Rockpile,” and the powerful title story.
This copy is the eighth Dell printing, March 1971, as stated on the copyright page. It retains the distinctive black-and-yellow Dell cover, original 75¢ cover price, and green-stained page edges. The cover remains bright and attractive, with light rubbing and edge wear consistent with age. Interior pages show normal toning but appear clean and complete. A very appealing vintage Baldwin paperback and a strong shelf copy from this early Dell issue.
