Factotum by Charles Bukowski (Black Sparrow Press, 16th Printing, Hardcover)

Charles Bukowski’s Factotum, his second novel and one of his defining works. First published in 1975, the novel follows Bukowski’s alter ego Henry Chinaski through a succession of menial jobs, cheap rooms, drinking, gambling, and relationships as he drifts across America during the World War II era. Written in Bukowski’s characteristically spare, unsentimental style, Factotum is a semi-autobiographical portrait of life outside conventional American success.

This is the 16th printing of the Black Sparrow Press hardcover edition, published in Santa Rosa in 1991. It features the distinctive Black Sparrow design with illustrated paper-covered boards, black cloth spine, printed spine label, red endpapers, and the publisher’s original typography and artwork. The edition also includes a photographic portrait of Bukowski by Richard Robinson.

The book is in very good condition, with a firm binding and clean interior. The illustrated boards remain attractive, showing light age toning and minor shelf and edge wear. The black cloth spine and printed spine label are well preserved. Page edges are clean with only light age-related wear. Includes the original clear plastic protective cover.
