A compelling and historically significant early American edition of Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler, published by Reynal & Hitchcock, New York, 1939. This is the important “fully annotated” edition, produced with editorial oversight from a panel of scholars to contextualize and critically frame the text at the outset of World War II.
This copy bears no impression statement on the copyright page, consistent with first printing points of this edition. The title page clearly states 1939, with the expected Reynal & Hitchcock imprint, and the annotated format distinguishes it from later or more common reprints.
Bound in the original red cloth with gilt spine titling, this example presents in good to very good condition overall. The binding remains solid, with moderate rubbing, edge wear, and some fading to the spine. Corners show wear, and some page corners are imperfect/softened as shown. Pages are otherwise clean with light, even toning and no major markings.
An increasingly collectible historical artifact—valued not for ideology, but for its place in documenting one of the most consequential and destructive political movements of the 20th century. The annotated American edition is especially sought after for its contemporaneous scholarly framing and wartime context.
A solid, honest copy of a controversial but undeniably important work of history.
